The every day ordinary

Today has been an awesome day! We ventured to pick up our milk and eggs and headed inside for a stash of dried mango. It might be a problem in this house.

The lovely lady who checks us out each week told me I was a strong woman and great mom (and the kids were being on superb behavior, so I wasn't even calmly dealing with a situation). And let's be honest, coming from someone who's not sleeping with me, this was an awesome boost to my ego!

We stopped for donuts at our favorite donut bakery. The kids played in the sandbox while I worked out.

Then we ventured to the splash pad after lunch. It was an utter madhouse, but the kids had fun and I ran into a mom friend. And it was great watching B who, again, is typically quite prudent and fearful of water come out of his shell after a few minutes and truly embrace running around and getting soaked and playing with other kids in a happy manner.

We hit a decent yard sale on our way home where I picked up a few things for B - finding nice 2nd hand boy clothes is hard! And yes, I buy most of my kids' clothes used. Sue me.

We spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside, picking strawberries, and then making paleo strawberry cupcakes per the request of the kiddos (sans the icing because we were in too much of a hurry to consume them!)

H said to me while we were outside, "Before I was your daughter, I got to pick any momma I wanted. But I picked you. Because I knew you were the best." Melt my heart!

J came home early, we ventured off to Menards for the rest of the wood for our fence. Before we could leave we found a little robin that had fallen out of his nest; not yet big enough to fly. J, of course, returned him to his home.

The kiddos fell asleep in the truck coming home from Menards. I ran into the grocery store to pick up food for J and I to make for dinner and got hit on by a guy who asked if I'd like to come over and have steak with him. I told him my husband probably wouldn't be fond of that idea, and we both had a good chuckle.

Then both kids transferred to their beds without a hitch and I picked up the toys while J made us dinner.

Oh, and did I mention H slept in her own bed all night last night? She didn't sleep through the night by any means - I've long stopped dreaming about that day - but she did sleep in her own bed!

Yep, Momma for the win!

It's crazy sometimes how freaking beautiful and fabulous the every day ordinary is.
